Tracing Durable Pedagogy: Longitudinal Transfer of NuLawLab Practices Among Alumni
We are inviting NuLawLab alumni to take part in a research study exploring how former students carry forward and apply NuLawLab practices and pedagogy over time. What the Study Is About
The purpose of this study is to understand how NuLawLab alumni continue to use, adapt, and apply the pedagogical approaches, methods, and values they encountered through their educational experiences. What we learn may help improve justice-oriented creative pedagogy, legal design education, and future educational programming.
What Participation Involves
If you decide to take part, you will be asked to:
Complete a short online survey — approximately 10–12 minutes.
Optionally participate in a Zoom interview — approximately 45–60 minutes, about your experiences and professional practice.
The survey is completed online, and any interviews take place remotely over Zoom.
Audio Recording and Transcription
With your permission, Zoom interviews will be audio-recorded, and we will use Zoom transcription services to support transcription accuracy. Recordings and transcripts may also be processed using Northeastern IRB-approved transcription services operating under confidentiality agreements.
Benefits and Risks
There are no direct benefits to you. However, the information learned from this study may help improve justice-oriented creative pedagogy, legal design education, and future educational programming.
Risks are minimal. They may include mild emotional discomfort while reflecting on past educational or professional experiences, as well as a small risk of loss of confidentiality. The research team will take steps to minimize these risks.
How We Protect Your Privacy
Only approved members of the research team will have access to identifiable research information, and identifying information will be stored separately from research data.
To reduce the risk of perceived coercion or bias related to existing relationships with alumni, interviews and outreach may be conducted by trained student research assistants who do not hold evaluative or supervisory authority over participants. Principal investigators will review interview data only after materials have been de-identified.
Audio files, Zoom recordings, transcripts, and digital research data will be stored on encrypted, access-restricted Northeastern University servers. Audio and Zoom recordings will be destroyed after interviews are completed, transcribed, reviewed for accuracy, and de-identified. De-identified transcripts will be retained only as needed for analysis and then destroyed in accordance with Northeastern IRB requirements.
Future Use of Data
After identifying details are removed, de-identified information may be used for future scholarly research or publications.
Your Choices
Participation is voluntary. You may stop participating at any time or skip any question you do not wish to answer. There is no penalty or loss of benefits if you choose not to participate or to withdraw. You will not be paid for participating in this study.
