Risking Justice
An Interdisciplinary Examination of Automated Decision-Making Algorithms in the U.S. Criminal Justice System
Funded by a 2020 Northeastern University Tier 1 Grant, this collaboration among the School of Law, Khoury College of Computer Science, and D’Amore-McKim School of Business critically examined the application of automated decision-making algorithms in the criminal justice system, ascertained the effect of such systems on stakeholder confidence in and opinion of the criminal justice system, and articulated a path toward developing algorithms free of unlawful bias. Our full report was expected to be published in early 2021.
